house rules

  • to rent our house you must be at least 25 years old

  • our house is suitable for family-oriented vacations, get togethers, and getaways

  • our house is 3 stories tall without an elevator. the first floor does not require stairs to get inside and there is a kitchenette, living room, and bunk beds but getting to other floors will require the use of stairs.

  • events/parties are not allowed. family events are ok.

  • if you are renting directly from us, we would like to meet you before you rent our house. phone meetings can be arranged for prohibitively long distances

  • there are motion detecting security cameras at our house. we will disable the motion sensors when when you arrive our neighbors are wonderful and many are full-time residents. please be extra considerate to them

  • from approximately the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, Lakeside Chautauqua requires guests and vehicles to pay a daily admission fee. these fees are the responsibility of guests. please learn more about the rates and dates here: https:// lakesideohio.com/visiting-lakeside/passes/

  • our house is comfortable and fun but it is not perfect. please understand it may have some flaws, but none that we think will diminish your enjoyment. our house is also near a great lake and wooded area which means there may occasionally be midges and mayflies, mosquitoes, ticks, pollen, leaves, salamanders, squirrel, skunks, raccoons, deer, turkey vultures, eagles, seagulls, easily upset redwing-blackbirds, and other wildlife. these generally stay outside of the house.

  • recycling & trash are picked up on Tuesdays, trash is also picked up on Fridays. please move the garbage and recycling cans to the curb and back on Tuesdays and Fridays before 6am during your stay

  • Lakeside Quiet Hours are from 11:30 p.m.-8 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 p.m.- 12 p.m. Sunday.
    “Noise or conduct of any kind that would disturb slumber is not permitted during this time.” Please note that Quiet Hours cover Sunday mornings until noon so all guests may enjoy a contemplative time to worship or meditate

  • we love our house and we have fun collecting the furniture and decor. we know youʼll treat our house like your own home. if something gets broken, please let us know. we will still love you. we are great at fixing things (because weʼve broken plenty of things)

  • please talk to us if you are considering bringing a pet. pets are sometimes permitted at our house with our prior written permission. we expect any prospective pet guest to be a great citizen, friend to all, and current on vaccinations. pets must always be kept inside or on a leash. unfortunately, we can never allow cats

  • smoking is not allowed inside or outside of our house. the community of Lakeside itself also prohibits smoking in all public areas (buildings, streets, parks, the beach, etc.) anywhere inside the gates

  • the consumption of alcoholic beverages outside of private dwellings is prohibited
    illicit drugs, narcotics, or substance abuses of any kind are absolutely not permitted
    boats and trailers are not permitted through the gates of Lakeside

    Please

    -return all items to where there were found

    -load any dirty dishes into the dishwasher and start it before leaving

    -empty fridges, freezers, and microwaves

    -remove used sheets from beds and place near bed

    -pile used towels in a bathroom

    -check drawers, closets, under beds, and in the washer & dryer for any left-behind belongings

    -remove all trash and place in the outside trash cans

    -turn off all fans and all lights, including outdoor light switches.

    -close and lock all doors, garage door, and windows

  • If these house rules or any Lakeside rules and regulations are not followed we may not be able to
    refund any of your deposit and may even have to ask you to leave before your check-out day with
    out a refund of your rental rate. Please talk to us before your stay if you have any concerns.
